Can you believe tomorrow will be one month since I moved to Michigan? I can’t. (I really should be more settled, but that’s another post.)
In honor of this momentous occasion, I thought I’d point out a few habits that I haven’t quite shaken:
I still shower at night. This is done out of necessity in Mexico because you sweat ALL DAY and there’s really no point to bathing in the morning.
I assume this will change when I get a job.
I still spit compulsively in the shower. You can’t drink the water south of the border, but that doesn’t stop water from getting in your mouth so… lots of spitting.
I assume this will change when I get it through my head that I live in MICHIGAN.
I’m still working out with Jillian Michaels.
I’m still cursing Jillian Michaels. I’ve been alternating between her 30-Day Shred and Burn Fat Boost Metabolism videos and they seem to be doing a good job of combating all the wonderful food I’ve been eating.
I assume this will change if I ever decide to join a gym again. Odds are I won’t because I’d much rather get an elliptical machine for home, but that’s rather cumbersome.
I hope the wonderful food doesn’t change.
I’m still battling Owen for control of the socks.
I don’t foresee this changing anytime soon.
And one big thing that HAS changed:
I no longer live in fear of being robbed, kidnapped, or killed. Seems like a small thing (at least to me) but I’m amazed at how quickly I’ve returned to thinking like my old self and living my day-to-day life like the rest of you. You know — leaving the house whenever I want to and not checking to make sure drug dealers aren’t watching.
Have you changed anything over the past month that you’d like to share?
i don’t know, i still shower at night so that one might stick with you too. 🙂
I never used to but I can see getting used to it.
I’ve always showered at night. It helps me wind down so I can get some sleep. I never thought about the spitting though. Makes sense! 😀
I can see the unwinding part. I was ready to crash after my shower last night!
Given how rarely I clean the shower head, spitting the water out might be a good idea…

Also, *poke*

Finally something I can say ew ew ew ew ew to you!
Yes I have a few things that have changed over the last month.
* I don’t get to have a nice barky and panting reception at the door.
* I no longer get to play “bite me soft game and catch me if you can” with my puppy.
* I have to do my own laundry.
* I have to wash all the dishes myself, clean kitchen, sweep the floor, etc.
* I get to smuggle my pillow and not my sweetheart and baby dog anymore .
* I have to do all work and no play which makes me a doll boy”. job hunting is a full time job:).
* I have to remember to listen for the water guys because I will run out of drinking water. which happened twice already
* I have to kill the ants myself, which by the way, are giant size now or is it a new colony moving in? that’s the most plausible case
* I have to put the water in my ice cube trays, so I that I have some ice.
And the list could go on and on, but I’ll stop there…:)
Some one misses you ….
Sweetie… 🙂
Are the ants taking over? That’s a little scary. I just found a tick in my computer — nice.
You two are so cute! 😉

😛
I second that ;o)
🙂
I am not a writer, so excuse the grammar mistakes.
When I do laundry at my gran-in-laws to save money by not going to the laundry mat her dog steals my underwear. Or is this TMI.
Lyra, Owen does that too. 🙂
Wow, I can’t believe it has already been a month. So glad you are no longer in fear.
Can’t think of anything that has changed for me in last month, except for maybe the pain in my hands. Hopefully that is on the way out.
Nadine, I hope that gets better soon.
can’t get the visual of Hoo spitting constantly. LOL
CONSTANTLY.
The spitting is really funny. I can totally see why you’d have to do that in Mexico! I’m also so sad that you felt so unsafe in Mexico. It’s such a sad thought. I can’t equate it to any experience I’ve ever had, because even living in big cities like Boston or Philly, I’ve always felt pretty safe. I wish it could have been different in Mexico ( and I’m sure you do, too!).
Robin, I’d always felt safe everywhere else too.
Yeah, the spitting… I don’t swallow when I brush my teeth either.
Wow a month! Dang. I sure am glad you’re not living in fear anymore – that would be awful, but I am sorry you guys have to live apart. It’s good to see some things never change ;o) And I shower at night or morning, depends on my mood.
Let’s see the last month – well my hubs got a job, I’ve started exercising (Wii EA Active), I bought my first Coach purse and wallet! That’s about it for me ;o)
Wow! Those are all big! Congrats to your husband on his job — that’s fantastic! I covet a Wii… I played my nephew’s a couple weeks ago and really liked it. And the purse… yum. 🙂
