Please help me give a big Hoosblog welcome to Yesenia Vargas!
Yesenia Vargas is the author of several sweet young adult romance books. Her love for writing stories was born from her love of reading and books. She has her third grade teacher to thank for that. In addition to writing and reading, she spends her time hanging out with her family and binge-watching Netflix. In 2013, she graduated from the University of Georgia, the first in her family to go to college. Yesenia lives in Georgia with her husband and two precious little girls. She also blogs at writermom.net.

Now for the fun stuff!
What’s your favorite genre? Do you read what you write?
It’s hard to pick just one! It’s kind of like TV and movies. I love all kinds of stuff.
As far as books, I really enjoy a good historical fiction book, especially if it’s about WWII or the American Revolution, those eras. I read a couple really good ones recently (My Dear Hamilton, The Spitfire Girls, and The German Midwife).
I also really love a good self-help type book, anything around mindset, productivity, or something aimed at writers (marketing, for example).
And of course, I love romance. An adult steamy romance or a good YA romance. I love books by J.A. Huss.
I also like mainstream stuff like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Hunger Games, and I’m a complete Potterhead!
So a variety of stuff! I don’t just read what I write, but I definitely read YA romance. Just not as much. I’ll mostly watch it.
I love that you read so many genres! I’m terrible about reading outside of young adult.
What’s your favorite part about writing?
Finishing the first draft! Also, hitting publish. 🙂 Nothing like finishing another book or getting it out there. I also really enjoy when the romance gets going. First kisses and all that. It’s a lot of fun to write!
And we love reading the swoony bits…
What’s the hardest part of writing for you?
Revising! And coming up with ideas. They don’t always come to me when I want them. 🙂 Takes a lot of walking, showering, etc.
You mean you don’t just go to the Idea Store for your ideas?! I kid. Ideas are one of the hardest parts for me as well.
What’s an activity unrelated to writing that you love?
Sports! I absolutely adore playing soccer, volleyball, even basketball. I still play with my brothers and nephews from time to time. Also: dancing.
Yesssssss! I love playing all the sports AND salsa dancing! (I know you didn’t specify salsa dancing, but I’m itching to hit the dance floor.)
Who’s your biggest cheerleader?
This is a hard one! Probably my best friend. Ever since it was hard for me to even say out loud that I was a writer, she was bragging about me and my books to her entire family! I mean ENTIRE family! Haha. She’s awesome. Now she’s working on her first book, and I’m the one bragging about it to everyone. 🙂
I love that so much!
Now I’d like to play a fun little game called This or That. As a writer, I find that a lot of interviews ask the same questions, so I always appreciate sharing something new about myself. I’m super excited about these questions—and I hope you enjoy them!
Introvert or extrovert? Introvert, although I love writers conferences.
Morning or night person? Morning! Used to be a wicket night owl, though. Then I had kids.
Coffee or tea? Coffee! Didn’t used to do either.
Sweet or salty? Salty! Salt and vinegar kettle cooked potato chips…
Eternal summer or four seasons? Four seasons!
Mountains or beach? Mountains!
Dogs or cats? I don’t know!
Over 5’5” or under? Under 🙂
Left or right-handed? Right.
Hoodie or yoga pants? Yoga pants, all the way.
BONUS: I was a middle school teacher for 3 years! I taught both of my nephews.
Salt and vinegar chips are my ultimate weakness….
Yesenia, thank you so much for spending this time with me and my readers. Readers, you can find Yesenia at these links and be sure to read The #BestFriendsForever series!

I didn’t think I’d like salt and vinegar chips. I’m not into potato chips. A while back I got a free bag of the Ritz Crisp and Thins chips. By the end of the bag I loved them. They’re even better than the bacon ones (and I love bacon).
