A gripping and relatable contemporary novel with an awesome time travel component mixed in, ‘Fracture’ draws you in and refuses to let go.
I could not put this book down and now I’m sad because I have to wait 100 years for the third book in the series. Okay, 100 years might be a slight exaggeration but it’s going to feel that way as I wait.
The main character Biz is super believable. You’re pulled into her world immediately and then spit out at the end saying, “What? I’m done already? I need more book.” Not because the story ended poorly or too soon just because you miss the characters who become you’re friends.
Ms. Hooyenga’s first book, “Flicker” was a great book but I’ve got to say “Fracture” is even better. More intrigue, more drama, more feels, and more jaw dropping page turns. I can’t recommend this book or this series enough and I eagerly await the next book in the series. I would love to gush more, but I don’t want to give away any spoilers even by accident!
I’ll say it again because it bears repeating, I’m not a YA junkie. It’s not my preferred genre. However, both Flicker and Fracture have captivated me on the method of time travel and the effortless way the author pulls you into the story. You can about the people, and soon you’re lost in their world, the end page getting read far too soon. I’m anxiously awaiting story #3 and learning what becomes of Biz as she grows and deals with her talent/curse.
I was thrilled to be able to read this book before it’s release! I was anxious to catch up on the story. I was not disappointed! I loved following the new happenings with Biz & Cam, and seeing where things were taking them. I want to hug/smack the author… is it too early to tease you that it looks like a #3 HAS to be in the works? Great job, Melanie! I look forward to more from you! (And hope the next one comes even sooner!)
Do We Really Have to Wait Until 2015 for the Next One?
If you’re looking for a great summer read, this is it. I couldn’t put the book down. Loved that Melanie included Fricanos in the book. Made me feel a part of the story, because I could picture the characters enjoying pizza at our hometown pizza place. Can’t wait to read the next one!
